How to measure for a new bespoke kitchen | Drew Forsyth & Co

Written by Sarah | Apr 22, 2020 3:04:06 PM

If spending more time around the house has left you eager to proceed with a kitchen makeover, then there are some first steps you can take from the comfort and safety of your own home.

One of these is to measure up, as by sending your rough measurements through to our team of designers they can draw up a concept design and send it back to you. While firm measurements would always have to be taken before work could proceed, this way of remote working at least can help give you an idea of what is possible and how our expert team can help.

To do this, you need three things, which should be easy enough to lay your hands on:

  • A tape measure
  • A ruler
  • Paper

Draw the outline of your kitchen and take down some basic measurements:

  • Measure the widths of the walls, at the base, in the middle and at ceiling height
  • Measure the height, at the corners and in the middle of the wall
  • Measure the distance from the corner of the walls to the edge of the door trim on doorways
  • Measure the windows in the same way, from the corner of the walls to the edge of the window trim, and the distance from the floor to the bottom of the window trim.
